Summer/Year-Round Programs

Participating in an online summer program can be a worthwhile opportunity to gain experience in a field of interest, learn more about a specific college, or both. There are thousands of potential summer programs that high schoolers can participate in, but this page lists a few noteworthy ones alongside affiliated hyperlinks. 

Check out COSMOS, a summer program hosted by the UC system for students interested in math and science. Four UCs provide COSMOS programs: DavisSan DiegoIrvine, and Santa Cruz

Students in grades 9-12 may volunteer through Americorps, a community service organization that provides volunteering opportunities in cities throughout the US. There are numerous volunteer positions at a variety of organizations in your community such as hospitals, schools, parks, and community centers. http://www.americorps.org/

Summer Programs:

 USC Summer Programs- USC is having an academically rigorous, socially packed 4-week summer experience. It allows you to take intellectual risks, hone your skills, discover your passions, and kick start your college experience! Choose from over 20 courses in multiple disciplines –– from business and engineering to acting and creative writing. The program runs from June 18,2023-July 15, 2023.

PALS-  PALS is looking for students (ages 15+) to earn up to 100 service hours and they would be willing to work with any participant who might be interested in using this experience as a service project or to work towards internship hours. PALS is a non-profit organization that provides inclusive camp experiences for people with Down syndrome.

LA-HIP Paid Internship - provides 16 underrepresented minority students with an interest in medicine or science with the opportunity to conduct hands-on laboratory-based research. Students apply as juniors. 

2022 High School Diplomats Program at Princeton - a ten-day cultural exchange program offered only from July 20 to July 31, 2022. Sophomore and juniors who are accepted are provided with a full scholarship for the program. 

Summer Sessions at UC Santa Barbara - with seven sessions offering over 600 courses, Summer Sessions makes it possible for students to get a head start and to make progress toward their degree. The program is open to college students and high schoolers alike. 

UCLA Writing Institute - open to all high school students helps English-speaking students who seek to strengthen their writing and discussion skills.

USC Bovard Scholars - a selective program that provides high school rising seniors with comprehensive test prep and college application assistance.
