Dual Enrollment-College Credit Course at NHHS

Dual enrollment is a program that allows high school students (primarily sophomores, juniors, and seniors) to enroll in college courses for credit prior to high school graduation. College credits earned through dual enrollment can sometimes be simultaneously applied toward high school credits. Every semester, we have college credit courses at NHHS taught by instructors from LAVC, LAMC, or Glendale at no cost to the student. The only cost is the textbook if funds are not available to cover the materials. Options: 9th grade students can take Health, College 101 and a VPA course during 1st or 6th period. Seniors who have met all A-G requirements can take an asynchronous college course during 3rd period. Sophomores-Juniors can take college courses after school.

NHHS will offer courses that are CSU and UC transferable, and taught on our campus. Registration is during the first two weeks of each semester and spaces are limited to 40 students for each course. Students are responsible for obtaining their own transcripts from the Community College and sending them to the school or college of their choice. Students are responsible for dropping the course if they change their mind. In order to participate, you must meet the following four standards:

  1. Be in good academic standing and on track to graduate (no D's or F's)
  2. Speak to your academic counselor about taking college courses

  3. Apply online at the Community College of your choice.

  4. Student must complete the the K-12 Dynamic form first (online via the C.C. you are applying)

  5. Have your parent sign the K-12 dynamic form (online) second
  6. Academic counselor signs the K-12 dynamic form (online) for final approval
